Gunner Supercross – 2014
2014-08-03Gunner Supercross - 2014, the sporting pride of the Regiment of Artillery was held at the Artillery Complex Minneriya on 03 August 2014 for the 9th time. It was a day filled with fun, thrill and excitement where 135 racing drivers and riders including the Island’s best performers displayed their motor sporting skills in the most challenging Gunner Track. Air Marshall Kolitha Gunatilleke, Commander of the Air Force graced the event as the chief guest while the presence of Lt Gen Daya Ratnayake, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, as the guest of honour, added prestige to the the event. Gunners also had the rare and glorious opportunity of welcoming the First Lady Madam Shiranthi Rajapaksa as a special guest to the exciting event. The guests were welcomed in a spectacular ceremony which was admired by everyone present. This was the first time in the history of the Gunner Supercross that three dignitaries were present to witness the races. Aravinda Premadasa was adjudged as the Best Driver and Shehan C Adikari the Best Rider. The Gunner Supercross 2014 organizers together with SLADA racing express their thanks to all sponsors, competitors and spectators for assisting them in conducting the event successfully.
