World Children’s Day Event

The Seva Vanitha Branch of Sri Lanka Artillery organized a “Happy Day” for the children of officers and soldiers killed in action, serving and disabled. The event held on 18 October 2014 in orders to commemorate world children’s day. Total of 151 children were invited for the event.

On the day of the event children accompanied by their parents arrived at the Viharamahadevi Park. They were immediately served with a morning snacks. Afterwards they were taken to Majestic Cinema where they witness the movie “Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day”. This was a one of the most memorable experiences for many of the children and the squalls of the laughter among the children while the movie was screening witness that the children found this both entertaining and delightful.

After delicious lunch sponsored by KFC the children traveled to Regimental Headquarters Panagoda in order to recognized high achievers for grade 5 scholarship examination, GCE O/L and GCE A/L examinations. Rs 10,000 each was granted to students who excelled at theses examinations. The Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Artillery Major General Jagath Rambukpotha grace the occasion as the chief guest and presented the scholarships. This was then followed by gifting stationary parcels approximately worth of Rs 3,000.00. All the children treated to snacks and drinks.
