Artillery Inter-Regiment Chess Tournament - 2025
2025-06-06The Artillery Brigade successfully organized a Chess coaching camp followed by the Artillery Inter-Regiment Chess Tournament at the Artillery Complex – Minneriya, with the direction and guidance of the Adjutatnt General of the Sri Lanka Army and the Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Artillery, Major General KVNP Premaratne RSP USP nps psc. This initiative marked a significant step in promoting the game of Chess within the Regiment of Artillery.
Two days of coaching sessions were held on the 03 and 04 of June 2025, with presence of expert from the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka. The tournament was conducted on the 05 of June 2025, with the total of 20 participants, representing all Artillery Regiments.
L/Bdr Randika AKDN from the 14 SLA secured 1st place, while Bdr De Silva PSM from the 4 SLA and L/Bdr Withanage WVLP from the 7 SLA achieved 2nd and 3rd places, respectively.
The Commander, Artillery Brigade - Brigadier T G I A Ariyarathne RSP IG attended the event as the Chief Guest. The Commandant - School of Artillery, The Commanding Officer - 7 SLA along with Senior Officers and Other Ranks from the Artillery Complex, were present to witness the event.
