Gunner Family Bids Farewell to Major General K A U KODITHUWAKKU RSP USP psc IG
2025-06-25In a heartfelt and dignified ceremony held in line with time-honoured military traditions, the Regiment of Artillery paid tribute to Major General K A U KODITHUWAKKU RSP USP psc IG upon his retirement from active service. The farewell, held on 25 June 2025 at the Artillery Regimental Centre, marked the culmination of an illustrious military career.
The proceedings commenced with the laying of a floral wreath at the Regimental Monument, honouring the memory of fallen war heroes. A ceremonial Guard Turnout and a Farewell Parade were accorded by the troops of the Regiment, reflecting deep respect and admiration for the senior officer’s service.
In continuation of the day's events, the Warrant Officers’ and Sergeants’ Mess hosted a formal tea party in honour of Major General KAU Kodithuwakku RSP USP psc IG. This was followed by a ceremonial all ranks lunch organized by the 4th Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery, where officers and soldiers alike gathered to extend their best wishes to the retiring General.
The event was a poignant moment for the Gunner family, as they bid farewell to a leader who served with distinction, dedication, and honour.
