MAJOR GENERAL KVNP PREMARATNE RSP USP nps psc ASSUMES DUTIES AS THE COMMANDANT SRI LANKA ARMY VOLUNTEER FORCE
2025-06-28Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc officially assumed duties as the 61st Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force (SLAVF) on 27 June 2025 at SLAVF Headquarters, in a ceremony steeped in military tradition.
Upon arrival, he was warmly received by Major General B M R J Bandara, Deputy Commandant SLAVF, along with senior staff officers. In accordance with custom, a Guard Turnout was accorded, followed by the Commandant laying a wreath at the memorial of Captain Saliya Aladeniya PWV, honouring fallen heroes who defended the nation's sovereignty.
A ceremonial Guard of Honour, presented by troops at the parade ground, marked his formal welcome. The Commandant then took over duties at an auspicious time amidst religious blessings and commemorated the occasion by planting a sapling within the camp premises and addressed the troops underscored the proud legacy of the Volunteer Force.
Senior officers, Commanding officers, and other ranks from various military establishments, were present for the event who extended their best wishes to the new Commandant. The day concluded with an all-rank tea and a cordial interaction with attendees.
