ASSUMED DUTIES COMMANDING OFFICER OF THE 8TH MEDIUM REGIMENT SRI LANKA ARTILLERY
2025-07-04LT COL V G P J Veekeligedara RSP USP psc IG SLA assumed duties as the 18th Commanding Officer of the 8th Medium Regiment Sri Lanka Artillery on 04 July 2025 at Murikandy, Kokavil.
The newly appointed Commanding Officer formally assumed duties during a ceremonial programme conducted in accordance with military tradition. The proceedings commenced with reviewing the Guard Turnout and followed by a brief religious observance, signifying the spiritual sanctification of the occasion. The Commanding Officer placed his signature on the official document, thereby symbolising the formal assumption of command.
As part of the day’s proceedings, a ceremonial planting of a Mango sapling was conducted at the camp, marking a gesture of growth and continuity. The day’s events concluded at camp premises with an All Ranks Tea and a troop address, during which the Commanding Officer conveyed his vision and expectations to the troops under his command.
