Major General BGS Fernando USP Hdmc psc Assumes Duties as Colonel Commandant of SLCMP
2025-07-12In a dignified ceremony held on 11 July 2025 at the Regimental Centre of Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police, Polhengoda. Major General BGS Fernando USP Hdmc psc, the Military Secretary of the Sri Lanka Army, officially assumed duties as the 14th Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Corps of Military Police.
The day began with full military honours and warmly welcomed in accordance with military tradition. Following this, a series of military customs were held in honour of the new Colonel Commandant. These included a Guard Turnout, a formal Guard of Honour, the symbolic planting of a sapling, and a troop address.
The day’s proceedings culminated in an All-Ranks tea, where the new Colonel Commandant addressed the gathering. In his remarks, he expressed his appreciation for the trust placed in him and emphasized his commitment to the continued growth and professionalism of the Corps.
The event was attended by Senior Officers, Officers, and Other Ranks of the Regiment and marking the beginning of a new chapter under the new leadership.
