15TH DRONE REGIMENT MARKS A DECADE OF SERVICE WITH 10TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS

The 15th Drone Regiment proudly commemorated its 10th Anniversary in March 2026, honouring a decade of dedicated service as a UAV/Drone regiment. A series of meaningful programmes were organized throughout the month, reflecting the regiment’s commitment to community, comradeship, and tradition.

Community Engagement

The anniversary celebrations commenced on 01 March 2026 with a Community Programme at Dhammachiththaramaya, Kumbukwewa. Officers and soldiers of the regiment engaged in cleaning activities at the Meheni Aramaya, creating a healthier and more serene environment for the resident monks. This initiative reflected the regiment’s deep respect for Buddhist traditions and its commitment to fostering harmony and well-being within the community.

Sports and Camaraderie

On 17 March 2026, the regiment hosted an Inter-Battery Cricket Tournament, fostering teamwork, healthy competition, and esprit de corps among its batteries.

Honouring Sacrifice

On 18 March 2026, the Commanding Officer of the 15 Drone Regiment paid a solemn visit to the family of the Late S/157342 Bdr Jayathissa T G R, who made the supreme sacrifice in service to the nation. During the visit, the regiment presented dry ration packs and household items, honoring his memory while extending support to his loved ones.

Caring for the Elderly

Continuing its tradition of service, the regiment donated dry rations and tea to Meemuththa Elders’ Home, Maho on 19 March 2026, extending compassion to senior citizens in need.

Spiritual Observances

On 20 March 2026, a Bodhi Pooja Pinkama was conducted, invoking blessings for the regiment’s future endeavors and honoring its spiritual heritage. Regimental Day Celebrations The highlight of the anniversary took place on 21 March 2026, featuring a Guard Turnout for the Commanding Officer, planting of a sapling, a Troop Address, and an All Ranks Lunch. These events symbolized discipline, growth, unity, and shared celebration.

Fellowship and Togetherness

The commemorations concluded on 22 March 2026 with an All Ranks Get-Together, strengthening bonds across ranks and celebrating the regiment’s collective achievements.
