112 Infantry Brigade Welcomes New Commander

Colonel A M V D Abeysinghe RSP USP IG officially assumed duties as the 59th Commander of the 112 Infantry Brigade on 20 May 2026 at the Brigade Headquarters amidst military traditions, formal ceremonies and religious observances.

Upon arrival at the Headquarters premises, the newly appointed Brigade Commander was accorded a ceremonial Guard Turnout. The formal assumption of duties thereafter took place following religious observances, marking the commencement of his tenure as Commander of the Brigade. As part of the day’s proceedings, Colonel A M V D Abeysinghe RSP USP IG ceremonially planted a sapling within the Brigade premises. Subsequently, he addressed the troops and shared his vision and expectations for the Brigade, while emphasizing the importance of professionalism and discipline among all ranks serving under his command.

The occasion was attended by Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, and troops serving under the 112 Infantry Brigade, who warmly welcomed the newly appointed Commander and extended their best wishes for a successful and distinguished tenure.
