Official visit of the Commander Artillery Brigade to the 7th Light Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery
2026-07-09The Commander Artillery Brigade, Brigadier DMPU Dissanayake RSP USP IG, paid an official visit to the 7th Light Regiment, Sri Lanka Artillery, on 07 July 2026.
The visit commenced with a ceremonial Guard Turnout at the main entrance, where the Commander was warmly welcomed and received, in accordance with military tradition, by the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel TRP Lanerolle RSP USP psc IG. To commemorate the visit, the Commander Artillery Brigade planted a commemorative sapling in front of the Regimental Headquarters, symbolizing the continued growth, strength, and enduring legacy of the regiment.
Thereafter, the Commander Artillery Brigade attended the Commanding Officer's briefing at the Conference Hall, during which he was apprised of the regiment's operational readiness, administrative affairs, training progress, and future development plans. Following a tea, Commander Artillery Brigade conducted a comprehensive inspection of the camp premises, reviewing the infrastructure, ongoing improvements, and the welfare arrangements provided for all ranks.
A significant highlight of the visit was the Commander's address to the troops at the Lecture Hall. During his address, he encouraged all ranks to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and operational preparedness while continuing to perform their duties with dedication and commitment.
The official programme concluded with a formal lunch at the Officers' Mess.
