Gunners Family Bids Farewell to Outgoing Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Lieutenant General B K G M L Rodrigo RSP ndu psc IG
2026-07-29The Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery honoured the outgoing Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Lieutenant General B K G M L Rodrigo RSP ndu psc IG with a dignified farewell ceremony held on 28 July 2026 at the Regimental Centre, Panagoda. The ceremony was conducted in accordance with the proud customs and traditions of the Gunners, recognising his distinguished military career, exemplary leadership, and valuable contributions to the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery and the Sri Lanka Army.
The day’s proceedings were commenced with the laying of a floral wreath at the Regimental Monument, followed by a ceremonial Guard Turnout and Regimental Parade presented by the troops of the Regiment in honour of the outgoing Commander of the Army.
Following the parade, an All Ranks Tea was hosted at the 6 SLA Other Ranks' Mess, where officers, soldiers, and civilian staff gathered to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the outgoing Commander of the Army. It also provided an opportunity for the Gunner Family to bid farewell to a respected leader whose commitment and inspiration have created a lasting impact on the Regiment.
The day's events concluded with a formal Mess Night hosted at the Officers’ Mess of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery. The occasion was attended by the Chief of Staff and Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery, Major General K V N P Premaratne RSP USP nps psc together with Senior Officers, Officers, and their spouses. The evening paid tribute to the remarkable military journey and achievements of Lieutenant General B K G M L Rodrigo RSP ndu psc IG. The Gunner Family extended its sincere gratitude and highest respect to the outgoing Commander of the Sri Lanka Army wishing him good health, happiness and success in all his future endeavours after a distinguished career dedicated to the service of the nation.
