Artillery Cricket Ground

A piece of land in Panagoda which belongs to the Regiment of Artillery has been converted to a playground for athletes under the guidance of Late Brigadier Parry Liyanage with the intention of enhancing their performances. Subsequently, it has been upgraded and modified into a matting cricket ground in year 2003 under the close supervision of Major General V R Silva (Retd) RSP USP ndu IG in order to provide an opportunity for Artillery cricket players to enhance their talents. Since then, it has become the venue for numerous cricket tournaments including Inter Regiment Cricket tournament. In this context, the construction of a turf cricket ground has been recognized as a prime necessity with the view of uplifting the standards of the cricket ground and to create an opportunity for Artillery cricketers to expose to a professional cricketing environment. As a result, construction of the turf in the Artillery Cricket Ground had begun in year 2018. Turning a new chapter in Artillery Cricket, the renovated Artillery Cricket Ground is declared opened by Major General Rukmal Dias, the Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Artillery on 2 April 2019.
