Philatelic Bureau Issues a Stamp and a First Day Cover to Mark 125th Anniversary of the Regiment
2013-04-12Philatelic Bureau of the Department of Posts issued a new postage stamp and a special commemorative first day cover at 1030 hours on 12 April 2013 to mark the 125th anniversary of the Regiment of Artillery. The stamp and the first day cover was issued in a grand and colourful ceremony held at the auditorium of the Ministry of Postal Services in the presence of Lt Gen J Jayasuriya VSV USP ndu psc, Commander of the Army who graced the event as the Chief Guest. Post Master General Mr Rohana Abeyrathne handed over the duly cancelled stamp and the first day cover to the Chief Guest and Maj Gen JC Rambukpotha RSP USP ndc psc IG, Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Artillery. The event was witnessed by a packed audience including retired and serving Artillery officers and their spouses and Other Ranks. Every one commented this first day cover is the most colourful and attractive first day cover ever issued by the Philatelic Bureau.
