Brigadier W A S Weerawardana RSP USP IG assumed duties as 8th GOC of 65 Division
2015-10-21Brigadier W A S Weerawardana RSP USP IG, a member of Regimental Council, assumed duties and responsibilities as General Officer Commanding of the 65 Division in a brief ceremony held at HQ 65 Division Thunukkai on 17 Sep 2015. He took office as 8th GOC of the Division succeeding Maj Gen G R H Dais USP ndc psc IG, another senior Gunner Officer.
Brigadier Sarath Weerawardana placed his first signature as the incumbent GOC at auspicious time in the presence of Commanders of 651, 652 and 653 Bdes, Commanding Officers of subordinate battalions together with Staff Officers of HQ 65 Div.
The Guard Turnout, All Rank Tea Party and Troop Address featured the days’ events in par with Military custom and traditions.
