The event was graced by Major General Milinda Pieris, Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and he was welcomed by Major General Priyantha Jayasundara, Colonel Commandant of the Sri Lanka Artillery.

Gunner Supercross is organized by the Sri Lanka Artillery in association with the Sri Lanka Autosports Drivers Association (SLADA) to create a source of sustainable income for welfare projects within the regiment, particularly supporting the needed families of fallen war heroes and to uplift the living standards of serving men in the regiment. Further, with the vision articulated by Major General Jayasundara, five water purification units were distributed among the selected schools in the area.

Singer Sri Lanka PLC joined in hands with Gunner Supercross as the main sponsor this year too and CEAT Kelani International Tyre (pvt) Ltd continued as the co-sponsor.
